Quotidian

quo·tid·i·an  [kwoh-tid-ee-uhn]
–adjective
1. daily: a quotidian report.
2. usual or customary; everyday: quotidian needs.
3. ordinary; commonplace: paintings of no more than quotidianartistry.
4. (of a fever, ague, etc.) characterized by paroxysms that recur daily.

Inspired by this friend's blog, encouraging "a small liturgical act to focus our vision, capture one thing, one moment that inspires us, fills us with gratitude, keeps us present in our overflowing lives" to see what I usually consider burden as instead, quotidian beauty.

I see: plants I have kept alive (!), some given to me by my children, dishes that evince meals together and the breadmaking that warms our home, fresh-fruit shared, straws from special hot-chocolate treats, paint brushes in favorite glass jars that tickle my creative gene, and most of all LIGHT coming through big windows, making this workspace not only bearable, but gratifying.

That is a great, sunny window above your sink! Love the refocusing on the positive. I think that happy is a mindset that we need to engage in actively, rather than passively waiting for something else to make us feel that way. Thank you for that reminder today. : )
