Then You Can Brush Your Teeth and Go To Bed

(weeping) "I don't like this!"
"But you haven't even tried it!"
(pause)
"I don't like this food! It's YUCKY!"

I don't know what my kids' problem is. Doesn't this look delicious to you?

I'm being sarcastic. I know it looks gross; that's why I had to take a picture. It's not as nasty as it looks, I promise. But then again, I love chard.

When David got home, he asked if there was any dinner left; he thought this was compost. If you want to make nasty dinners too, here's what you do:
Go to Trader Joe's and get a bag of tortellini , a bag of frozen, cooked shrimp, and a bag of Chard of Many Colors, and follow directions. This involves sauteed garlic, chard, broth, a big can of crushed tomatoes, and a glug or two of Vermouth (you know, glug-glug....that's the sound it makes when you pour it into your throat--err...your pan...) and let it simmer. Throw the shrimp in the hot pasta water just before you drain it, toss everything togeter and voila! A big huge bowl of deliciousness that you will be enjoying, by yourself, for the rest of the week.

Bon appétit!

It does look interesting. The comments remind me of things I heard when you and your brother were little. As that goes, I still hear that from my grandchildren. Yucky pulp in the fresh squeezed OJ. A mom's life can be tough at times. Just remember - things come full circle - there will be a time when they make something for their children and get the same reaction. I like my zuchinni/apple pancakes - but, dad says, no thank you. Hang in there. Each day seems like an eternity sometimes but, it is gone in a blink. You are doing a great job and your children will not starve for the lack of one meal. Remember those starving children in China - the ones I heard about throughout my childhood. Anyways - you are very loved. :0)

I feel inspired to make some of my own chard of many colors concoction... although, I don't know how well that would go over in my house. I regret not taking a picture of my most infamous meal which sounded so delicious on paper... an autumn pasta dish where pumpkin sauce inspired me to the point that I completely skipped over that it was accompanied by ground sausage and steamed broccoli. Needless to say, it wasn't a hit, I refused to taste it as it simmered...
